Moshav Netiv Haasara suffered a severe blow in the disaster that befell Israel on that black Sabbath. After visiting the moshav, we were shocked by the sights, and heard about the strong desire of the members to restore the community, agriculture and industry – BTB and the Rashi Foundation, which work to strengthen Israeli society, feel an obligation to help the residents in this effort – whether by taking care of the residents’ needs, raising funds, making connections, and anything else required. We call on you to join us in the effort, to open your heart, and to help restore the Moshav closest to the Gaza Strip.

The massacre at Netiv Haasara
On Saturday , October 7th 2023, during the early morning hours, a brutal & murderess attack began on the moshav. Members of the moshav’s security force protected the lives of its residents by themselves, and four of them were killed during this heroic effort to save others.
In this horrendous attack on innocent civilians , 20 of the moshav’s residents were murdered, including men, woman, and children of various ages.
Since this day, when thousands of people were murdered, kidnapped and injured, in a terrible and unprecedented event, Israel has been in a state of war and facing security challenges from other fronts as well.
Due to thus sensitive situation, all of Netiv Haasara’s residents were forced to evacuate the moshav, and the community is currently split between several locations in Israel’s central region
הטבח בנתיב העשרה
בתאריך 7/10/23, השבת השחורה, החלה בשעות הבוקר מתקפה רצחנית של ארגון חמאס על ישובי עוטף עזה.
ב-06:37, תוך ירי רקטות כבד, חדרו עשרות מחבלים למושב נתיב העשרה מהאוויר ומהקרקע תוך שהם טובחים, שורפים ובוזזים כל מה שנקרה בדרכם.
במשך שעות ארוכות כיתת הכוננות נלחמה לבדה ו-1080 תושבי הישוב היו נצורים בביתהם אחוזי אימה. 20 ילדים, נשים, קשישים וגברים נרצחו בדם קר ופונו פצועים רבים.
בעקבות האובדן וההרס שאר התושבים פונו לכל רחבי הארץ וכרגע חיים ללא בית, 320 ילדים נותרו ללא מסגרות ו35 משקים חקלאיים אשר מהווים פרנסה ל-35% מתושבי היישוב ננטשו לחלוטין.
הטבח בנתיב העשרה
בתאריך 7/10/23 בשעות הבוקר המוקדמות החלה מתקפה רצחנית וברוטלית על היישוב. חברי כיתת הכוננות הגנו לבדם על התושבים וארבעה מהם נרצחו בגבורה בעת שניסו להציל חיי אדם.
במתקפה הנפשעת על אזרחים חפים מפשע נרצחו עשרים מתושבי נתיב העשרה, ביניהם גברים, נשים וילדים בגילאים שונים.
מאז יום שבת בו נרצחו, נחטפו ונפצעו אלפי בני אדם, באירוע מחריד שלא היה כמותו, ישראל נמצאת במצב מלחמה ומאותגרת ביטחונית בחזיתות נוספות.
בעקבות המצב הרגיש כלל התושבים פונו מנתיב העשרה וכיום הקהילה מפוצלת במספר אזורים במרכז הארץ.
Israeli Mutual Responsibility
The widespread commitment & solidarity shown by the citizens of Israel, and the many initiatives by thousands of volunteers, are awe inspiring and assist the evacuated residents with their various needs.
Naturally, and under these tragic circumstances, the moshav’s residents have financial needs, which require different responses for each family. Members of the moshav’s management are doing their best to assign despite the complexity of a situation were residents are forbidden from returning to their homes due to the security risk, and cannot even bury their loved ones at the moshav’s cemetery.
This ability to support each other, was built quickly by local leadership using an exceptional social cohesion, and there is no doubt this tight-knit community will overcome the crisis it is facing today. The more assistance it receives now, the faster it will recuperate.
A strong Netiv Haasara community will help strengthen the entire “Otef Israel” region.
About Moshav Netiv Haasara
Netiv Haasara is a Moshav (agricultural village) founded in 1973 in the Sinai peninsula. In 1982, following Israel’s peace treaty with Egypt and the withdrawal of the Sinai peninsula, the moshav was moved to its current location. In 2005, with the implementation of Israel’s “Disengagement Plan” and the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the moshav became the closest Israeli settlement to the border fence (only 100 meters).
Up until war broke out on October 7th, the moshav was home to over 300 families, who enjoyed a thriving community life, in spite of the moshav being target of rocket fire by terrorist organizations over the years.
?What will the funds be used for
- Everything the moshav needs to supply its residents with a sense of security, such as: supplies for the local security force, security cameras, communication equipment , medical equipment , etc.
- assistance in purchasing in bullet proof ambulance, which will serve the residents for medical emergencies.
- A major upgrade in the moshav’s control center ability to communicate with each house on the moshav.
- Providing residents emotional support & therapy.
- Financial support for those in need. This does not replace funds supplied by the Israel government , but is intended to help households who have lost their loved ones in the short term.
- Restore the community’s sources of income, and anything it takes to save to agricultural farms: equipment , supplies, workers.
- Assistance in building a new fortified community center. This is important as a new meeting point, and a symbol of restoring the community’s sense of cooperation, now more than ever.
- Restoring the moshav’s tourism center. Netiv Hassara has a tourist center, that invites visitor from Israel & the world to meet a unique agricultural community who was able to build a strong & vibrant settlement, despite being so close to the border.

- רכישת אמבולנס אשר ישרת את התושבים במענה רפואי ופינוי בכל אירוע בעלות של כ-1.2 מיליון ש”ח עבור אמבולנס מתקדם ומיגונו כדי להתאימו לישוב צמוד גדר.
- תמיכה ותחזוקה טכנית של גנרטור חשמל שקיים במושב.
- מענה טכנולוגי ואחר לאבטחה היישובית כולל מצלמות טרמיות.
- שדרוג משמעותי של אמצעי השליטה בחמ”ל מול כלל הבתים בישוב.
- הסדרת התקשורת הפנים ישובית בטכנולוגיה שאינה תלויה אך ותקשורת סלולרית בתוך מרחבים מוגנים ולכיתת הכוננות.
כל מה שדרוש כדי להציל את המשקים החקלאיים – ציוד, סחורה וכוח אדם.
מתן מענק לכל המשפחות אשר שכלו את יקירהן, בהלימה להיקף הנרצחים/הפצועים במשפחה ובנוסף להקצות סיוע ייעודי למשפחות עם קושי כלכלי שאין ביכולתם להתמודד עם המציאות שנוצרה. הסיוע אינו במקום התמיכה שתינתן מרשויות המדינה, אבל יש בו כדי להקל על ההתארגנות בטווח הקצר של מי שבאופן טרגי איבד את היקר לו מכל וזקוק לעזרת הקהילה.
מלגות קיום לשנה הקרובה לאנשים הזקוקים לכך מסיבות שונות, בעיקר חסרי עורף כלכלי. אפשרות להקצאת מלגת לימודים לכל מי שתוכנן להתחיל השנה את לימודיו.
סיוע בטווח הביניים
מרכז קהילתי ממוגן שיתן מענה לכאלף איש. במושב לא קיים כלל מקום בו התושבים יכולים להתכנס לאירועי ספורט, תרבות ופנאי וכן לאירועי זיכרון קהילתיים. למבנה כזה יש חשיבות כמקום מפגש קהילתי ובהחזרת השיתופיות לה הם זקוקים היום יותר מתמיד.
המרכז הבין-תחומי יהווה גם מקום להנצחה של קורבנות השביעי באוקטובר ולמורשתם.
הבריכה במושב מיושנת ואינה הולמת את צרכי הקהילה. הבריכה הוקמה ב-1982, עם הקמת המושב והיא מהווה מקום מרכזי לבילוי ופנאי עבור הקהילה. הבריכה במצבה הנוכחי, לחלוטין אינה נותנת מענה במצב חירום ולכן יש להציב בסמיכות אליה מיגוניות לציבור.
בנתיב העשרה קיים מרכז תיירות ואירוח המזמין ביקורים מהארץ ומהעולם וחושף ישראליות שורשית באמצעות היכרות עם קהילה חקלאית וייחודית אשר למרות הסיכון בקרבה לגבול, הם מייצגים ערכי ציונות בחבל ארץ יפהפה.
מרכז המבקרים מהווה גם מקור פרנסה למספר משפחות ביישוב, חלקם מייסדי היישוב שמספרים את סיפור עליתם לקרקע והצלחתם כקהילה, למרות העובדה שפונו מבתיהם, הם בחרו בתקומה ובהתיישבות.
מרכז מבקרים חדש ומותאם לאופי המושב, יסייע רבות לקהילה ולהעברת המורשת הציונית לכל מי שיפקוד את נתיב העשרה.

They do so, by putting forward their infrastructure and manpower for immediate assistance and the fulfilment of the goal of restoring the moshav to its former self.
